Salathiel H. Sterling, 88 years old, a long-time resident of Jasper County and Civil War verteran, died at 4:55 pm at his home in Atlas.
Mr. Sterling had been in ill health since he fell and suffered a broken hip about eighteen months ago. About two months ago his condition grew worse. He was a retired farmer and had lived in this district for many years. He was born November 30, 1841, in Preston County, Virginia. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Fannie Sterling; three sons, H.W. Sterling, a druggist at Duenweg; R.R. Sterling of Pearson, Okla., and H.H. Sterling of Cromwell, Okla.; a daughter, Mrs. Winifred Sterling of Edinburgh, Tex.; a step-son, W.F. Boyd of Baxter Springs; a step-daughter, Mrs. J.F. Patrick of Kansas City, Kan., and two step-daughters, Mrs. Ferm Gresham of Alba and Mrs. Creola King of Atlas. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
