Plynn Sterling, son of Thomas Reed Sterling and Cecil Daisy Harreld, and direct descendant of James Stirling and Hannah May of Cornwall, CT, passed away this morning around 9 AM, at the home of his son, Eric. Plynn and his daughter, Kathy had been visiting Eric and his wife, Linda and other family in Florida. The body will be flown to Zion, Illinois for funeral and burial.

Plynn was a wealth of information on our Sterling family, and was always willing to tell the stories he had been told as a youngster, personally experiencing many wonderful times with the family. It was a letter written to Plynn in 1939 that provided important clues to tracing his Stirling line back to Scotland. Plynn was born 8 Mar 1923, in Enid, Oklahoma, the oldest son of Thomas Reed Sterling.

All of us here at Clan Stirling want to send our condolences to the children of Plynn; Eric, Diana and Kathy Sterling, and other family members and friends.

Lady Mary Hendrickson wrote the following to us:

"Believe me when I say, we will all miss him deeply. Plynn's passing has taught me something. Never put off visiting those you love, and are related to. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but understand on their return trip from Florida to Zion, Illinois, he and Kathy were going to come pay my husband and me a visit. That opportunity has now passed, and it is our loss. I know he was a wonderful person!"

Plynn is survived by brother Dwayne Sterling, who lives in Littleton Colorado.

Remembrances can be sent to the following address:
