Lucetta A Howe - Descendant of James and Hannah Stirling
Lucetta Amanda Howe descendant Lolaine M. Rodes, known as "Lainey" amongst her friends has been waiting since 1999 to have information she sent to us added to Clan Stirling Online.
Finally the wait is over!
Lucetta is the great-granddaughter of James Sterling and Hannah May of Cornwall, Litchfield Connecticut. She was born on the 15th of September 1846 in Brooklyn, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, the dauther of Amy Sterling and Ephraim Kirby Howe. She married George D. Thayer on 24 August 1873 in Carroll County Iowa.
Mrs. Rodes kindly wrote us: "I'm enclosing some photos which you need not return or course. I will send a few more when I have a chance to get to Huntsville, AL to have some laser copies made. I have a LOT of pictures. What can you expect? My great-grandfather George D. Thayer was a photographer. Apparently the sons of Francis M. Howe Reed and Romulues Reed were also photographers in Missouri Valley (Harrison County) Iowa.
Mrs. Rodes provided some wonderful photos ~ some are of Lucetta's posterity -
Edith Thayer is the daughter of Lucetta, she and Anson lived in Perry, Dallas County, Iowa. Anson died in 1950, Edith in 1935. After losing their first child they raised four children, Vere De Los, Winn Thayer, Gerald Anson, and Lola Elaine Howard.
Three generations, three lifetimes of experience, joy, sorrow, family, and wisdom. Our very special thanks to Mrs. Rodes for sharing this incredible example of family from her treasure trove. Perhaps you can add more information to this large branch of the James Sterlilng family.
