Woodinville, WA - 10 Jul 1998 Woodinville, WA - Several of James Sterling & Hannah May's descendents have been working together across the country to uncover still more ancestor information for Hannah May. We now know Hannah is part of the well known Rogers and Barber families of Plymouth, Massachusetts, so it's possible still more information will surface in the coming weeks.

There is so much new information you really need to review the following Ancestral Report printed via the Family Origins 6.0 software program. It is quite long, but does list extensively the sources that have been uncovered so far to help you in your own research.


Ancestors of Hannah May - 10 Jul 1998


FIRST GENERATION 1. Hannah May was born on 3 Nov 1748 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1,2,3 AM Sterling stated Hannah's birth was "about 1747 possibly in Connecticut". This was made in 1909. The birth record from Massachusetts is more reliable. AM Sterling's reference is listed here because of the wide spread acceptance of AM Sterling's work, as a reference. She was baptized on 25 Dec 1748 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.4 She was Cornwall First Church about 1775 in Cornwall, Litchfield , Connecticut.5 She died on 20 May 1834 in Cornwall, Litchfield , Connecticut.6 She has Ancestral File number 10X4-NQG.7

SECOND GENERATION

2. Edward May was born on 22 Mar 1711 in Plympton, Plymouth, Massachusetts.8 He was baptized on 10 May 1741 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.9 Page 29. - "May 10, 1741 Edward May was baptized and received to full communion and at ye same time Anne his wife renew'd her covenant and ws rec'd to full communion, and her child Rachel which she had while single was baptised. she having last Sabbath made confession of her fornication, and baptised their son, Edward May, and also Abigail the daughter of Peres...." He died in 1790 in Cornwall, Litchfield , Connecticut.10,11 He was married to Anna or Anne Parris on 27 Sep 1739 in Plympton, Plymouth, Massachusetts.12,13,14

3. Anna or Anne Parris was born on 4 May 1709 in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts.15,16,17 She died in Jul 1787 in Litchfield County, Connecticut.18 "Widow May," d. July 1787, ae. about 80. She was also known as Anne.19 She was also known as Anah Parish.20

Annas marriage record lists her surname as PARRIS. Edward May and Anna or Anne Parris had the following children:

       i.    Edward May Jr. was born on 19 Jun 1740 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1 He was baptized on 10 May 1741 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.21 He has Ancestral File number 10X4-NCM.22
       ii.    Mercy May was born on 20 Feb 1742 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1 She was baptized in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.23 She has Ancestral File number 10X4-NMT.24
       iii.    Betee May was born on 5 Mar 1743 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1,25 She was baptized on 22 Apr 1744 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.26 She has Ancestral File number 1J85-3CV.27
       iv.    Mary May was born on 13 Jul 1746 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1,7 She was baptized on 20 Jul 1746 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.28 She died on 22 Jun 1824.29 She has Ancestral File number 10X4-NP8.7
   1    v.    Hannah May.
       vi.    William May was born on 17 Sep 1750 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1,30 He was baptized on 18 Nov 1750 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.31 He has Ancestral File number 10X4-NRN.32
       vii.    Ruth May was born before 6 Apr 1754 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.33 In the ancestral File Ruth's birth is listed as 1752 in Halifax, Mass. The exact source is not currently known. She was baptized on 6 Apr 1754 in Halifax, Plymouth, Massachusetts.34 She has Ancestral File number 1J84-HXV.35

THIRD GENERATION

4. Israel May was born before 1686 in Plymouth, , Massachusetts.36,37,38 He was also known as Israel Maye.39 He was married to Elizabeth Barber on 5 Feb 1700 in Plympton, Plymouth, Massachusetts.40,41,42,43

5. Elizabeth Barber was born on 4 Aug 1681 in Dorchester, Massachusetts.44,45,46,47 She has Ancestral File number 10X4-QM6.48 Israel May and Elizabeth Barber had the following children:

7. Abigail Rogers was born about 1676 in Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts.57,58 She died on 11 Dec 1713 in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts.59,60 She has Ancestral File number 1J84-9WM.61 Thomas Parris and Abigail Rogers had the following children:

10. James Barber was born about 1652.62 He died on 13 Oct 1732.63 He was married to Elizabeth Hyde on 23 Jun 1680.64

11. Elizabeth Hyde was born about 1658 in Dorchester, England.65 She died on 4 Dec 1739.66 James Barber and Elizabeth Hyde had the following children:
